Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge (1899).

Oscar Claude Monet was committed to painting directly from nature as frequently as possible and whenever weather permitted, sometimes working on eight or more canvases on the same day. His ambition to capture the ever-shifting natural light due to the shift in seasons became a hallmark of the Impressionist style.
