BLOCK & UNSUBSCRIBE is a 100% plant-based mosquito repellent/ room freshener and
bug spray.
The Power of Scent
We asked some questions about mosquitoes and their relationship with us and found one conclusive answer. Getting bitten by a mosquito indicates that you smell good to the insect. What are these questions?
Q1: What can I eat to repel mosquitoes?
Foods rich in thiamine are said to release an odor that repels mosquitoes and other bugs. When consumed, garlic, onions, and apple cider vinegar are said to change the way you smell and make you less detectable to mosquitoes.
Q2: Why do mosquitoes bite my feet?
They are attracted to that mix of bacteria and fungi that cause foot odor. That's why mosquitoes often bite people on their feet and ankles.
Q3: Do all mosquitoes bite?
No. Male mosquitoes do not bite humans. Female mosquitoes bite humans to get protein to lay their eggs.
Q4: What are mosquitoes afraid of?
Natural scents that turn them off: cinnamon, peppermint, cedar, citronella, lemongrass, patchouli, catnip, lavender, and eucalyptus.
Q5: What attracts mosquitoes to people?
The sweat associated with increased body temperature and exercise (called eccrine sweat) is initially odorless to us humans but not to mosquitoes. And mosquitoes can not only smell our sweat, but studies show they're attracted to the lactic acid and ammonia in it.
If you are getting bitten, it means your odor/smell is attracting the mosquitoes.
Let us turn this around.
We blended the three oils with Witch Hazel to Block & Unsubscribe from mosquitoes. Everything else is a bonus.
What is the bonus?
Bug spray: The spray also repels other insects like termites & ants.
Room freshener: The essential oils purify the air, leaving it fresh and decongested.
Lemongrass disinfects and kills odor-causing bacteria. Eucalyptus helps open sinuses and alleviate congestion due to colds and allergies. Cedarwood is terrific for your furniture, and mosquitoes detest the smell.
Skin-friendly/ natural: Block & Unsubscribe does not contain synthetic solubilizers, preservatives, or alcohol. Not using these synthetic chemicals means two small compromises from your end but significant positive impacts on your health and the environment - Shake well before use and refrigerate after opening.
Child Safe: Can be sprayed on the skin but avoid spraying on the face. Do not spritz directly in the eye/face.
Pet Safe/ Plant Safe: Cats love this fragrance. For dogs, it cleans and neutralizes anal gland odor and reduces pain and inflammation from flea bites and dermatitis.
What is DEET, and why is Block & Unsubscribe DEET FREE?
N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide, also called DEET (/diːt/) or diethyltoluamide, is the most common active ingredient in insect repellents.
Like Block & Unsubscribe, DEET makes it hard for these biting bugs to smell us. While DEET works for around 7-8 hours, Block & Unsubscribe works for 5 hours indoors and 3 hours outdoors.
Click this link to learn more about DEET.
Where can I use Block & Unsubscribe?

Around You - Spritz on quilts, bed sheets, pillowcases, linen spray your wardrobe, kitchen cabinets, bedroom walls, restroom, floors, and spaces where you sit around/ hang around.
Inside your shoe & bag, cars, air-conditioned office spaces, campsites, treks, carry along wherever you go. It works for up to 5 hours in closed rooms.
What is Witch Hazel?
Witch hazel (steam-distilled leaves of Hamamelis Virginiana) is a natural astringent/ toner and is excellent for the skin. Witch hazel does not dry your skin and is natural compared to alcohol and polysorbates.
Why do we need to shake the bottle before use?
Witch hazel contains 10-14% alcohol. For adequate mixing, we need a 190-proof alcohol or depend on synthetic solubilizers such as polysorbates. Both have their side effects, including dry skin, etc. Since Witch hazel is not an effective solubilizer - you have to shake the bottle well before spritzing.
Why do we need to refrigerate after opening?
Because we did not add a synthetic preservative for extended shelf life.
Since we need at least 25% ethanol for preservation to be effective at room temperature, witch hazel contains only 10-14%. Hence the need to refrigerate and shorter shelf life - 6 months.
The spray works for about 5 hours indoors and approx 3 hours when you are outdoors. We were tempted to elaborate on punning Block & Unsubscribe in every sentence, but we showed restraint.
